Champs-sur-Yonne (until 1965 only Champs ) is a French municipality with 1574 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the arrondissement Auxerre and the canton Auxerre-3 (until 2015: canton Auxerre-Est ). The inhabitants are called Champicaunais .

Champs-sur-Yonne is located about five kilometers south-southeast of Auxerre on the Yonne . Champs-sur-Yonne is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Augy in the north and northeast, Saint-Bris-le-Vineux in the east, Escolives-Sainte-Camille in the south and Auxerre in the west.

The former Route nationale 6 (now D606) and the Canal du Nivernais run through the municipality .
