Courson-les-Carrières is located in the south of the Puisaye countryside , about 20 kilometers south-southwest of Auxerre . Courson-les-Carrières is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Merry-Sec and Moffy in the north, Charentenay in the northeast, Fouronnes in the east, Mailly-le-Château and Festigny in the southeast, Coulanges-sur-Yonne in the south and southeast, Surgy in the south, Andryes in the south and south-west, Druyes-les-Belles-Fontaines in the south-west, Molesmes in the west and Fontenailles in the north-west.
