Surgy is about 31 kilometers south-southwest of Auxerre . The Yonne forms the eastern boundary of the municipality. Neighboring municipalities of Surgy are Courson-les-Carrières in the north, Coulanges-sur-Yonne in the east and northeast, Pousseaux in the east and southeast, Clamecy in the south, Oisy in the southwest and Andryes in the west.
