Varzy is a commune with 1,215 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Clamecy and the Canton of Clamecy (until 2015: Canton Varzy ).
geography
Varzy is about 45 kilometers north-northeast of Nevers . Neighboring municipalities of Varzy are Courcelles in the north, Saint-Pierre-du-Mont in the northeast, Villiers-le-Sec and Cuncy-lès-Varzy in the east, Parigny-la-Rose in the southeast, Marcy in the south, Champlemy in the southwest, Oudan in the West and La Chapelle-Saint-André to the north-west.
The community is located on Via Lemovicensis , one of the four historic " Way of the Pilgrims in France ". This is where the former Route nationale 77 (today's D977) and the Route nationale 151 (today's D151) intersect .
