Moraches is a commune in the French department of Nièvre in the Administrative Region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the canton of Corbigny and the Arrondissement of Clamecy . It borders in the northwest on Grenois , north to Asnan , in the northeast on Germenay , on the southeast by Héry , on the south by Beaulieu and in the west on Brinon-sur-Beuvron .

The inhabitants call themselves Morachiens.

When the Nivernais was an independent province from the 9th century to 1790 , the village was called Mourâche .
