Coulanges-sur-Yonne is about 24 kilometers south of Auxerre on the left bank of the River Yonne and the Canal du Nivernais . Coulanges-sur-Yonne is surrounded by the neighboring communities are Courson-les-Carrières in the north and northwest, Festigny in the northeast, Crain in the east, Lucy-sur-Yonne in the southeast, Pousseaux in the south and Surgy in the west and southwest.
