Sainpuits is a French municipality with 315 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Auxerre and the canton of Vincelles (until 2015 Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye ). The inhabitants are called Sainépuisiens .

Sainpuits is about 40 kilometers southwest of Auxerre . Sainpuits is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Treigny-Perreuse-Sainte-Colombe with Treigny in the north and northwest, Lainsecq in the north and northeast, Étais-la-Sauvin in the east, Entrains-sur-Nohain in the west and southwest and Bouhy in the west and southwest.
