Préhy is a French commune in the department Yonne (Region Bourgogne Franche-Comté ) near Auxerre and Pontigny . The community has 150 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), has an area of 14.00 km² and is 180 meters above sea level. Préhy is not far from Chablis .

Préhy is a predominantly agricultural ( viticulture and fruit growing ) village. Many workers are therefore commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.

The Chablis is the northernmost wine-growing region in Burgundy . Only Chardonnay is grown on the limestone slopes. The vineyards are divided between Préhy and 19 neighboring communities. The winemakers also have the right to use the regional designations of origin Bourgogne , Bourgogne Aligoté , Bourgogne Passetoutgrain , Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire and Crémant de Bourgogne .
Attractions
The Notre Dame chapel with murals related to the ergotism that was widespread in the Middle Ages . The Fontaine du Tau spring, located in the municipality, had a reputation for curing ergot poisoning known as the Antonius fire.
Population development
With 150 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), Préhy is one of the small communities in the Yonne department. After the number of inhabitants decreased in the first half of the 20th century, a slight increase in the number of inhabitants has been recorded again since the early 1980s.
