Saint-Maurice-le-Vieil is a French municipality with 373 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Yonne in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Auxerre . The municipality is part of the canton of Charny ( Aillant-sur-Tholon until 2015 ).

Saint-Maurice-le-Vieil is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Maurice-Thizouaille in the north, Poilly-sur-Tholon in the east and northeast, Égleny in the south and Le Val d'Ocre in the west.
