Lain is in the south of the Puisaye countryside , about 27 kilometers southwest of Auxerre . Lain is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fontenoy in the north and north-west, Levis in the north, Sementron in the north and east, Sougères-en-Puisaye in the south, Thury in the south and south-west and Saints-en-Puisaye in the west.
