Chemilly-sur-Yonne is about eleven kilometers north of Auxerre . The Yonne River limits the municipality to the northwest. Chemilly-sur-Yonne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Beaumont in the north, Seignelay in the east and northeast, Gurgy in the south and west and Chichery in the northwest.
