Chemilly-sur-Yonne is a French municipality with 795 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the arrondissement Auxerre and the canton Saint-Florentin (until 2015: canton Seignelay ).

Chemilly-sur-Yonne is about eleven kilometers north of Auxerre . The Yonne River limits the municipality to the northwest. Chemilly-sur-Yonne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Beaumont in the north, Seignelay in the east and northeast, Gurgy in the south and west and Chichery in the northwest.
