Crain is surrounded by the neighboring communities are Mailly-le-Château in the north and northeast, Merry-sur-Yonne in the northeast, Châtel-Censoir in the east, Lichères-sur-Yonne in the southeast, Lucy-sur-Yonne in the south, and Coulanges-sur -Yonne in the west and north-west and Festigny in the north-west.
