Chassy is a French commune of 460 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in department Yonne in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Auxerre . The municipality is part of the canton of Charny ( Aillant-sur-Tholon until 2015 ).

Chassy is about seventeen kilometers west-northwest of Auxerre on the Tholon . Chassy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montholon in the north, Poilly-sur-Tholon in the east and north-east, Saint-Maurice-Thizouaille in the south and south-east, Le Val d'Ocre in the south and south-west, Les Ormes in the west and La Ferté-Loupière in the Northwest.
