Méré is a French village with 197 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Burgundy ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Auxerre and the canton of Chablis (until 2015 Ligny-le-Châtel ).

Méré is about 24 kilometers east-northeast of Auxerre . Méré is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villiers-Vineux in the north, Carisey in the northeast, Dyé in the south and east, Maligny in the south and southwest, Ligny-le-Châtel in the west and Varennes in the west.
