Charentenay is about nine kilometers south-southwest of Auxerre . Charentenay is surrounded by the neighboring communities Migé in the north, Val-de-Mercy in the north and northeast, Fontenay-sous-Fouronnes in the east and southeast, Fouronnes in the south, Courson-es-Carrières in the southwest and Mouffy in the west.
