Merry-la-Vallée is about 17 kilometers west of Auxerre . Merry-la-Vallée is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Val d'Ocre in the north, Égleny in the east and northeast, Beauvoir in the east, Parly in the south, Tourcy in the south and southwest and Villiers-Saint-Benoît in the west.
