Mézilles is located in the Auxerre arrondissement and belongs to the canton of Cœur de Puisaye (until 2015: canton of Saint-Fargeau ). The inhabitants are called Mézillois .

Mézilles is located about 31 kilometers west-southwest of the city center of Auxerres , on the Branlin River . Mézilles is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Tannerre-en-Puisaye in the north, Dracy in the northeast, Fontaines in the east, Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye in the south, Ronchères in the southwest and Saint-Fargeau in the west and southwest.
