Chevannes is a French commune with 2,178 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Yonne in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Auxerre and the canton of Auxerre-4 .
geography
The municipality is located just southwest of Auxerre in the valley of the Baulche river (French: Ru de Baulche). Neighboring communities are Villefargeau in the north, Auxerre in the northeast, Vallan in the west, Gy-l'Évêque in the southeast, Escamps in the south, Pourrain in the west and Lindry in the northwest.
