The Lay-brother Rock ( English for lay brother rock , Spanish Roca Monigote ) is a cliff rock in the archipelago of the Southern Orkney Islands . It rises out of the sea 3 km southwest of Despair Rocks and 11 km northwest of Route Point off the western end of Coronation Island .
Mapping and naming was done by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations in 1933.
