Klaus Koglin

Klaus Koglin is a German engineer and head of technology development at Audi AG , Ingolstadt .

Klaus Koglin graduated in 1975 from the Technical University of Magdeburg in the field of drive technology as a Dipl.-Ing. from. He worked there from 1975 to 1985 as a research assistant. In 1986 he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. is doing his doctorate with a thesis in the field of hydrostatic drives. From 1985 to 1991 he worked in the field of science organization at the TU Magdeburg and was a university lecturer in the field of hydraulics and pneumatics .

From 1991 to 1994 he was a planner for aluminum production technologies at the Neckarsulm plant of Audi AG. From January 1995 to November 2002 head of the aluminum production technology department at the Neckarsulm plant of Audi AG. Since December 2008 he has been Head of Technology Development at Audi AG.

Awards

In December 2011 Klaus Koglin received the Doors & Closures Innovation Award from the Presidium of the "Automotive Circle International" for the design and development of the fully pressed aluminum system doors of the Audi A6. The doors of this vehicle are more than 20 kilograms lighter than the previous model. The jury praised the implementation of demanding design specifications in a mix of lightweight materials and the use of new test methods. By using simulation tools, a higher rigidity could be achieved despite reduced material usage.
