Klaus Mackscheidt

Klaus Mackscheidt (* 1935 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German economist and professor emeritus for economic political sciences with a focus on finance at the University of Cologne .

Life

Klaus Mackscheidt was born in Mülheim an der Ruhr in 1935. In 1956 he began studying economics at the universities of Heidelberg , Munich , Vienna and Cologne. He obtained his degree in economics in 1960 at the University of Cologne. In 1967 the doctorate to Dr. rer. pole. at the University of Mainz . In 1971 Mackscheidt completed his habilitation on a financial science topic at the University of Cologne. In the following year he was appointed to a professorship in Hamburg. In 1973 Mackscheidt returned to Cologne as a full professor for economic political science with a focus on public finance . In addition, he was director of the Public Finance Seminar and the Finance Research Institute. In 1997 he became dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, and in 2001 he finally retired.

Mackscheidt was one of the signatories of the Euro-critical manifesto The Monetary Policy Decisions of Maastricht: A Danger for Europe (1992).
