Klaus Nowodworski

Klaus Nowodworski (born July 5, 1940 ; † December 29, 2001 in Berlin ) was a German rock and soul singer who, as the long-time front man of the Modern Soul Band, is closely connected to the history of GDR rock music.

Life

Nowodworski was a member of the Modern Septet, founded in July 1968 and renamed Modern Soul Band in 1970. The band emerged from the Music Stromers, which had been banned shortly before . In 1983 he left the band and was replaced by Christian Schmidt. He returned in July 1999, but was only able to make a few appearances until his death, which followed shortly thereafter.

Klaus Nowodworski recorded numerous titles with the Modern Soul Band for the GDR radio and produced several singles and LPs for the GDR record company Amiga .

In December 2001, he developed a brain tumor and died a few days later. His grave is in the Evangelical Cemetery St. Andreas and St. Markus in Berlin.
