Klaus Pekarek

Klaus Pekarek (born December 12, 1956 in Klagenfurt , Austria ) is a board member of Uniqa Österreich AG responsible for the Raiffeisen Versicherung sales brand . He was General Director of Raiffeisenlandesbank Kärnten . In addition, he was chairman of the ORF foundation board . He was President of the Carinthian Ski Association (LSVK) until 2008 and is now one of the Honorary Presidents.

Career

Pekarek studied at the University of Graz from 1975 to 1980 law . During this time he worked as an assistant at the Institute for Public Law . Following his doctorate in law (1981), he worked, among other things, at the Institute for Financial Law at the University of Graz and as a lecturer . Pekarek joined Raiffeisenlandesbank Kärnten in 1984 as an assistant director. Before he took over the position of managing director in 1988 , he headed the legal and auditing department and was also a lecturer at the University of Klagenfurt for finance and business lawactive. From 1993 to 2008, Pekarek was General Director of Raiffeisenlandesbank Kärnten. From 1999 he was - on the recommendation of his friend Jörg Haider - on the board of trustees of the ORF and was elected chairman of the board of trustees of the ORF at the end of October 2001. Pekarek was due to be voted out of office again due to disagreements with the BZÖ , but this was not possible during the period. In 2010 he no longer ran for the Board of Trustees.

On January 7, 2008, Pekarek resigned as General Director of Raiffeisenlandesbank Kärnten at the end of June 2008, and since July 1, 2009 he has been a member of the Board of Management of Raiffeisen Versicherung AG, which he took over as head in January 2010. In October 2016, Raiffeisen Versicherung AG merged into the parent company Uniqa Austria. Pekarek has been a Uniqa board member for bank sales since then. The name “Raiffeisen Versicherung” will be retained as a sales brand.
