Klaus Riede

Klaus Riede (born March 4, 1953 ) is a German biologist specializing in entomology and tropical ecology .

Career

Klaus Riede studied biology with a focus on zoology , animal physiology , biocybernetics , biomathematics and applied physics at the University of Tübingen . In 1982 he submitted his dissertation on the behavioral ecology and advertising behavior of the red club insect ( Gomphocerus rufus ).

Riede taught at the Universities of Tübingen and Freiburg and most recently at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and conducted research at the Alexander Koenig Zoological Research Museum in Bonn . He developed the Global Register of Migratory Species (GROMS), a database with distribution maps in GIS format supported by the Bonn Convention for the Protection of Migratory Species .

Riede is currently working on bioacoustics , especially with locusts (Orthoptera).

Honors

Klaus Riede worked on the UN organization Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), which is based in Bonn.
