Klaus Ulrich Schmolke

Klaus Ulrich Schmolke (* 1975 ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

He studied law and history in Trier , Lausanne and Mainz . First state examination in law in 2000. Doctorate with a thesis on corporate law (“Corporate attorney's liability for personal damage to capital shareholders”) at the University of Mainz in 2003. Second state examination in 2004. Master of Laws (LL.M.), NYU School of Law 2006. He was Research assistant at the Institute for Commercial and Business Law at the University of Bonn with Holger Fleischer . From 2006 to 2009 he was a scientific consultant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law , employee of Holger Fleischer and supervisor of the Swiss country department from 2009 to 2012. After his habilitation in 2012 on a civil law topic (“Limits of Self-commitment in private law. Legal paternalism and behavioral economics in family, corporate and consumer law ”) at the Bucerius Law School , he held a chair at the University of Marburg in the 2012/2013 winter semester . A call to a W3 chair for civil law in Marburg was rejected. Since April 2013 he has held the chair for civil law, commercial, corporate and economic law at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg .

His research interests are German, European and US corporate law, German, European and US capital market and banking law, economic and decision-theoretical foundations of contract law, economic analysis of law, and comparative law.
