The former Klausmühle was in turn the namesake for the Klausmühlebach located here.

history

In any case, the Klausmühle existed before the 15th century and was probably a fief of the Mehrerau monastery as early as 1249 . The area of the so-called Klausmühle belonged to the Mehrerau monastery for centuries. The mill was burned by Swedish troops in 1647 (see also: Naval War on Lake Constance 1632–1648 ) and rebuilt.

With the lifting of the mill compulsory in 1787, in addition to the stately mills and the Klaus mill , the private mills and cooperative mills could in future offer their services to the village community.

After the abolition of the Mehrerau monastery in the course of secularization by the Bavarians, to which Tyrol and Vorarlberg were awarded by the Peace of Pressburg in 1806 , the Klausmühle and the vineyards located here ( Prälatenberg ) were sold to private individuals.

In 1978 the Klausmühle and some other old houses were finally demolished without replacement. The area has meanwhile been built up tightly with multi-family houses and high-rise buildings.
