A coat hook is a hook that can be used to hang clothes on a wall or other surface.

Clothes hooks are often made of metal , but nowadays plastics are also often used, which are very often only attached with a self- adhesive adhesive surface on both sides .

According to DIN 81407, a distinction is made between three forms:

  • Form A, coat hook, two-armed (hat and coat hook )
  • Form B, coat hook, one-armed, light
  • Form C, coat hook, one-armed, heavy

Several coat hooks in a row (often attached to a common mounting plate) form a cloakroom rail . Coat hooks, mounted around a stand and free-standing as furniture , form the classic clothes stand . In traditional clothes closet , the hooks often been an integral part, in addition to the clothes rod , which to hang the hangers used.
