Klein Warfen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The village of Klein Warfen is located in the Eggelingen district of the city of Wittmund in the district of the same name in Lower Saxony . The name refers to Terp , an artificially raised dwelling that is piled up with earth. Klein Warfen was probably first mentioned in 1684 as "Overwarven". It received its current settlement name in 1804. On July 1, 1972, the municipality of Eggelingen was incorporated into Wittmund.

The village is on the border between the districts of Wittmund and Friesland , directly on the district road 21. The next place in the direction of Wittmund is Eggelingen, in the direction of Jever Wegshörne. The place consists of three farms and a farm workers house. North of Klein Warfen is the village of Groß Warfen , which includes three farms and three single houses.

In terms of landscape, Klein Warfen is shaped by the old marshland . The areas around Klein Warfen are used exclusively for agriculture , mainly for dairy farming.
