The Kleinbahn-AG Lüben – Kotzenau connected the two largest cities in the district of Lüben in Silesia .
history
The former Prussian district of Lüben and its district town were connected to the Glogau – Liegnitz railway line by the Breslau-Schweidnitz-Freiburg Railway Company in 1871 . The state railway line Freystadt – Waltersdorf opened in 1890/91 also brought a railway connection for the city of Kotzenau.
In order to connect the two cities, which at that time had 7800 and 4200 inhabitants respectively, and to open up the center of the district, municipalities and private individuals founded a small railway company on June 18, 1914. After the Lüben – Braunau section had already been put into operation for wagonload traffic on February 21, 1916, the line could be driven to Kotzenau on December 1, 1916. The opening of the general traffic did not take place until October 1, 1917 due to a lack of personnel. The small railway was built by the AG Osthavelländische Kreisbahnen in Nauen, which also took over the management. From 1920, construction officer Adolf Himbeck, who was then on the board of directors of the OHKB, was personally responsible for the management. Lenz & Co. GmbH took its place in 1929 .
In 1918, two pairs of trains ran daily, but traffic on Sundays and public holidays was soon suspended. In 1928 the holiday traffic was resumed. From 1930 three pairs of trains ran, but the hoped-for increase in traffic did not materialize, so that from 1932 only two pairs of trains ran again, and public holiday traffic was also discontinued. From 1937 there was only one pair of trains running.
In 1945 the railroad vehicles were brought west, on January 27th they were parked at the Sänitz station of the Wehrkirch-Rothenburg-Priebus small railway . Finally they landed on the Nauendorf-Gerlebogker Railway .
It took some time to get the line back into operation. In 1946 there was still no operation, in 1950 two pairs of trains ran again.
In 1985 the passenger traffic was stopped, in 1987 also the freight traffic because the line was in bad condition. The line was shut down.

The standard-gauge line began in the small train station in Lüben and after 28 kilometers it reached the small train station in Kotzenau , where it was connected to the Freystadt – Reisicht branch line. The administration of the railway and its operating center were also located here.

The summer timetables for 1927 and 1934 show two pairs of trains, from 1939 to 1944 only one pair; there was no traffic on Sundays. In 1939, the Deutsche Reichsbahn opened a bus line that ran from Lüben to Kotzenau. The timetable for 1941 contains three trips on weekdays and one on Sundays.
In 1939, the Kleinbahn vehicle fleet comprised two steam locomotives, three passenger cars, one pack wagon and twelve freight cars.
