Kleinmeister bowls are a class of Attic black-figure bowls that were found in the middle and third quarter of the 6th century BC. Were produced. They are named after their delicate, small-format painting.

Kleinmeister bowls are younger than Siana bowls , but both shapes were produced for a long time. The small masters only painted the upper small frieze above the "kink" of the bowls, possibly also the lip or the handle zones. Probably only a few Siana bowl painters have also painted minor master bowls. One of the first artists to introduce this vase shape in Athens was Klitias ; the first vase painter who can currently be attributed to small master bowls is the Kassandra painter . The change in the decoration was accompanied by a stretching of the bowl feet. Small masters only rarely painted larger types of vases (although small masters' bowls are often known from good painters of larger vases). Stylistic comparisons between large and small vases are difficult to this day.

Many signatures are known from the minor masters (especially on rim shells ), since the signature was often used as part of the overall decoration. Signatures by potters predominate, which is not least due to the fact that the quality of the pottery often exceeds that of the paintings.
