A test probe , also known as test clips , alligator clip or short Kleps called, a tool that is in the measurement technology applies to electrical voltages or small electrical currents to tap hard to reach areas.

Depending on the design, a wire hook, spring wire clips or a pair of gripping claws, similar to an alligator clip , can be extended via a spring-loaded push button at the tip of the mostly flexible shaft . Clamp test probes with wire hooks are particularly suitable for contacting conductors with a smaller cross-section , those with gripping claws are especially suitable for conductors with a larger cross-section. The variant with spring wire clips is used for small to medium-sized cross-sections. At the other end there is a socket into which, for example, a banana plug can be inserted.
