Kleurrijk Elftal
The Kleurrijk Elftal ( Dutch for "colorful team") was a football team that consisted of Dutch paid football players with Surinamese roots.
The team was founded by Sonny Hasnoe and played since 1986. A selection team of Kleurrijk Oranje made 1989 tragic headlines when 15 of its members during the landing accident of a Douglas DC-8 on the flight PY764 of Surinam Airways perished. After that it became quieter around the Kleurrijk Elftal , but the team and the associated foundation remained. Since 1998 there has been a similar team, the Suriprofs . However, these two organizations are in conflict with each other.
