Marko Vejinović (born February 3, 1990 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch football player . He has been under contract with AZ Alkmaar since July 2017 . He used to be called Marko Matic .

Life

Vejinović played in his youth at AVV Zeeburgia. After playing for a few years in the youth team from AZ Alkmaar , he was part of the AZ selection since the 2007/08 season. He made his debut in the former on January 21, 2009 in a game for the KNVB Cup against Achilles '29 . He made his Eredivisie debut on March 22, 2009 in the home game against Feyenoord Rotterdam . After four seasons at Heracles Almelo , he moved to Vitesse Arnheim in 2013 .

Until he was 18, he had his mother's name Matić. Because his father's name was becoming extinct, both he and his older brother adopted his name.
