Thomas Ouwejan (born September 30, 1996 in Alkmaar ) is a Dutch football player . He is under contract with AZ Alkmaar and is a young Dutch national player.

Career

Thomas Ouwejan began his career at SV De Foresters and in 2007 moved to the AZ junior academy . On 10 December 2015, he made his professional debut in a 2-2 draw in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League against Athletic Bilbao . Three days later, Ouwejan played his first Eredivisie game in the 2-1 defeat on matchday 16 in the away game against PEC Zwolle . This season he came to 16 appearances and two goals for the reserve team and an appearance in the UEFA Europa League for the professionals. In addition, he completed an assignment in the KNVB-Beker and three assignments in the Eredivisie; AZ qualified fourth for the UEFA Europa League qualifying round . A season later he played once for the reserve team and 16 times for the professionals in the UEFA Europa League , in the KNVB-Beker and in the Eredivisie. In the following play-off games for participation in the Europa League preliminary round, AZ reached the final, but lost to FC Utrecht on penalties . In the following season , Ouwejan rose to become a regular player and completed six games in the KNVB Beker and 31 games in the Eredivisie. AZ reached the final in KNVB-Beker, in which they lost to Feyenoord Rotterdam . In the Eredivisie, AZ took third place.

National team

Ouwejan completed five appearances for the Dutch U17 national team and took part with the U19 in the 2015 U19 European Championship in Greece . He was used in all three games of his team and retired after the group stage. These games were also Ouwejan's only games for this age group. He then played eight times for the U20 team and made his debut for the Dutch U21 national team on November 15, 2016 in the European Championship qualifier against Portugal in Doetinchem .
