Ricardo van Rhijn (born June 13, 1991 in Leiden , South Holland ) is a Dutch football player who is used as a defender in central defense or as a right full -back.

Van Rhijn switched from the youth of RKSV DoCoS ( Rooms-Katholieke Sportvereniging Door Combinatie Sterk ) in Leiden to the offspring of Ajax Amsterdam . On December 18, 2011 he made his debut for the 1st team in the Eredivisie against ADO Den Haag and two months later in the Europa League he was used against Manchester United . With the club he won the Dutch championship three times and in 2013 the Johan Cruijff Schaal .

In the summer of 2016, he switched to the Belgian first division club FC Brugge . A year later he was awarded to AZ Alkmaar and committed in 2018. In summer 2019 he then signed a one-year contract with SC Heerenveen .

National team

From the U-15 to the U-21, van Rhijn went through all national teams of the Dutch Association and scored two goals in 48 matches.

Bond coach Louis van Gaal called him to the national team for the first time after the Euro 2012 , in which he made his debut on August 15, 2012 in a friendly against Belgium . By November 2014, he had a total of 8 international matches, but failed to score.
