Sports Association Transvaal is a Surinamese football club from Paramaribo , which plays in the highest Surinamese league ( Eerste Divisie ).
history
The football club was founded in 1921 by students from the Hendrikschool , a middle school in Paramaribo. The Leckie and Elliot brothers were among the founders. The name Transvaal , which is unusual for a South American club , was chosen because the former province of the South African Union made headlines in Paramaribo.
The first season in the second division ended with direct promotion to the highest class and in 1925 the SV Transvaal won their first national title.
With 19 championship titles won, he is one of the most successful teams in the country. The greatest international successes were in 1973 and 1981 with the victories of the CONCACAF Champions Cup .
The club colors are green and white.
