Letitia Vriesde
Letitia Alma Vriesde (born October 5, 1964 in Paramaribo ) is a former Surinamese middle-distance runner .
Letitia Vriesde has held the South American record in the 800 meter run with 1: 56.68 min since 1995 . She took part in the Olympic Games five times from 1988 to 2004, but never reached a final. She was more successful at world championships, where she won silver in 1995 and bronze in 2001 . In 1999 she won gold at the Pan American Games . She was also the winner of the 2003 Pan American Games . However, her doping test showed an increased caffeine value, so that the gold medal was revoked and the IAAF warned her.
Vriesde also improved the South American record several times in the 1500 meter run . In 1991 she set her personal best with 4: 05.67 minutes and was 9th in the finals of the World Championships in Tokyo.
