Muriel Coneo Paredes (born March 15, 1987 in Isla Fuerte ) is a Colombian middle-distance and obstacle runner .

Athletic career

Muriel Coneo gained his first international experience at the 2004 South American Youth Championships in Guayaquil , where fourth place over 800 meters and sixth place over 1500 meters. In 2005 she took fifth place over 800 meters at the South American Championships in Cali . Then she won the bronze medal at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Armenia over the same distance. At the Junior South American Championships in Rosario , she won the gold medal over 800 meters and with the Colombian 4 x 400 meter relay as well as the silver medal over 1500 meters. In 2006 she won the Ibero-American Championships in Ponce , she won the silver medal with the relay and took fourth place over 800 meters. At the Central America and Caribbean Games in Cartagena , she was sixth over 800 meters. At the Junior World Championships in Beijing , she reached the semi-finals. Then she won the silver medals over 800 meters and with the relay as well as the bronze medal over 1500 meters at the South American Championships in Tunja . At the end of the season she won the gold medals over 800 and 1500 meters at the South American Games, which also represented the U23 South American Championships.

In 2007 she won the silver medal over 800 meters at the South American Championships in São Paulo . In 2008 she was fourth and fifth at the Ibero-American Championships in Iquique and won the bronze medal in the 1500 meters at the Central America and Caribbean Championships and finished fourth in the 800 meters. At the U23 South American Championships in Lima , she won the silver medal over both distances. In 2014 she won the gold medal at the South American Games in Santiago de Chile over both distances . At the Ibero-American Championships in São Paulo, she won gold over 1500 meters and silver over 3000 meters. She then won the gold medal over 1500 meters and silver in the 3000-meter obstacle course at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Xalapa . In 2015 she finished seventh in the individual competition at the Pan American Crosscountry Cup in Barranquilla and sixth in the team classification. At the South American Championships in Lima, she won the double over 1500 meters and 3000 m obstacle. At the Pan American Games in Toronto she won the 1500 m with a new national record of 4: 09.05 min. She also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where she reached the semi-finals over 1500 meters .
