Ángela María Figueroa Palacios (born June 28, 1984 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian medium , long-distance and obstacle runner .

Athletic career

Ángela Figueroa gained her first international experience at the Junior South American Championships 2003 in Guayaquil , where she won the silver medal in the 3000 m obstacle course and finished seventh in the 1500 meters. At the Pan American Junior Championships in Bridgetown she won the bronze medal over 3000 meters and 2000 meters obstacle. A year later she won the bronze medal in the obstacle course at the U23 South American Championships in Barquisimeto and finished fifth over 1500 meters. In 2005 she took fifth place over 1500 meters and fourth place in the obstacle course at the South American Championships in Cali . Then she won the silver medal in the obstacle course and the bronze medal over 1500 meters at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Armenia . In 2006 she won the gold medal in the obstacle course at the U23 South American Championships in Buenos Aires , which were also the South American Games.

In 2007 she won the silver medal in the obstacle course at the South American Championships in São Paulo . Then she finished sixth in this discipline at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro . In 2008 she won the bronze medal at the Ibero-American Championships in Iquique and won the gold medal over 3000 m obstacle at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Cali. In 2009 he won the silver medal at the South American Championships in Lima . In addition, she could not finish her run of 5000 meters. She then won the gold medal at the Central America and Caribbean Championships in Havana , as well as at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Sucre . She qualified for the World Championships in Daegu , where she was eliminated with 10: 06.00 min in the first round. Then she won the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara . In 2012 she took sixth place over 5000 meters at the Ibero-American Championships in Barquisimeto and qualified in the obstacle course for the Olympic Games in London , where she was eliminated with 10: 25.60 minutes in advance .

In 2013 she won the bronze medal over 5000 meters at the South American Championships in Cartagena . She also won the silver medal in the obstacle course at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Trujillo . In 2014 she won the gold medal at the South American Games in Santiago de Chile over this distance and finished fourth over 5000 meters. At the Ibero-American Championships in São Paulo, she reached eighth place. She then won the gold medal in the 3,000-meter obstacle course at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Xalapa and took fifth place over 5,000 meters. In 2015 she finished fourth at the South American Championships in Lima. In 2016 she took part in the Half Marathon World Championships in Cardiff , where she reached 47th place. In 2017 she won the bronze medal over 5000 meters at the South American Championships in Luque and took fourth place over 10,000 meters. In November she won fifth place over 10,000 meters at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta .

So far she has been Colombian champion in obstacle course five times and in 2017 champion over 5000 meters.
