Belén Adaluz Casetta (born September 26, 1994 in Mar del Plata ) is an Argentine obstacle runner . She has held the continental record in this discipline since 2017.
Athletic career
In 2010 Belén Casetta took part for the first time in a major international event, the South American Youth Championships in Santiago de Chile, in the 400-meter hurdles race, where it won the silver medal. At the first ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , she came twelfth in this discipline. In 2011 she took part in the South American Championships in Buenos Aires , where she finished sixth over the hurdles and just barely missed a medal with the Argentine 4 x 400 meter relay as fourth. At the Youth World Championships in Lille , she took part in the 2000-meter obstacle course and took tenth place there. Over 3000 obstacles she was eliminated in the first round of the Junior World Championships in Barcelona .
In 2013 she again took part in the South American Championships in Cartagena , where she was fifth over 1500 meters and sixth in the obstacle course. Two years later she won the bronze medal in the obstacle course at the South American Championships in Lima . At the Pan American Games in Toronto , she finished seventh. In 2016 she won the gold medal at the Ibero-American Championships and also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There she finished in 16th place in the preliminary run and thus missed a final. She also won the gold medal at the U23 South American Championships in Lima. In 2017 she won the gold medal in the obstacle course and silver over 5000 meters at the South American Championships in Luque . So she qualified for the World Championships in London , where she set a new South American record with 9: 25.99 min in the final and thus finished eleventh. At the World Student Games in Taipei two weeks later, she finished sixth as a student at FASTA University.
In 2018 she won the bronze medal at the Ibero-American Championships in Trujillo in 10: 07.20 minutes behind the Brazilian Tatiane Raquel da Silva and María José Pérez from Spain. At the 2019 World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus , she finished 93rd after 43:10 min and at the South American Championships in Lima she had to give in to Brazilian da Silva again in 10: 04.54 min. Then she won the silver medal behind Pole Alicja Konieczek at the Summer Universiade in Naples in 9: 43.05 min . In her second participation in the Pan American Games, the 2019 edition in Lima , she won the bronze medal in 9: 44.46 minutes.
In 2011 and 2013 Casetta was Argentine champion in the 400-meter hurdles and in 2013 also over 1500 meters.
