Rosibel García Mina (born February 13, 1981 in Jamundí ) is a Colombian middle-distance runner .

Athletic career

Rosibel García gained her first international experience at the 1998 Córdoba Junior South American Championships , where she won the silver medals in the two sprint relays , reached fourth place over 400 meters and broke off her run over 200 meters. At the Pan American Junior Championships in Tampa , she was fourth with the 4-by-100-meter relay. She then won the gold medal in the 4-by-400-meter relay and bronze in the 800-meter run at the Junior South American Championships in Concepción . In 2000 she reached the semi-finals over 400 meters at the Junior World Championships in Santiago de Chile and was disqualified in the preliminary run with the Colombian relay. In 2001 she won the silver medal at the South American Championships in Manaus with the 4 x 400 meter relay and finished fourth over 800 meters. At the Juegos Bolivarianos in Ambato , she won the silver medal over this distance.

In 2003 she won the bronze medals over 800 meters and with the relay at the South American Championships in Barquisimeto . At the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo , she was eliminated in the run-up over 800 meters. In 2004 she won the bronze medal with the relay at the Ibero-American Championships in Huelva and finished sixth over 800 meters. In 2005 she won the gold medals in the 800 and 1500 meters and the silver medal with the Colombian relay at the 2005 South American Championships in Cali . Then she won the gold medal in all these disciplines at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Armenia . At the Ibero-American Championships in Ponce 2006 she won the silver medal with the relay and the gold medal over 800 meters. At the Central America and Caribbean Games in Cartagena she was fifth with the relay, won silver over 800 meters behind Zulia Calatayud and the gold medal over 1500 meters.

In 2007 she won the gold medal over 1500 meters and silver with the relay at the South American Championships in São Paulo . In addition, she did not have to finish her final run over 800 meters. At the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro she won the silver medal over 800 meters and with a new national record the bronze medal over 1500 meters. At the World Championships in Osaka , however, she was eliminated over 800 meters in the first round. In 2008 she won gold medals over 800 and 1500 meters at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Cali and also qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing , where she reached the semi-finals and set a new national record there over 800 meters.

At the South American Championships in Lima in 2009 , she again won the double over 800 and 1500 meters and thus qualified for the World Championships in Berlin , where she was eliminated again in the first round. At the Juegos Bolivarianos in Sucre in November she also won the two middle distance distances, as well as the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Mayagüez 2010. In 2011, she won both gold medals in her specialty disciplines for the third time at the South American Championships in Buenos Aires and reached the world championships in Daegu the semi-finals over 800 meters. At the Pan American Games in Guadalajara this time she won bronze over 800 meters and silver over 1500 meters behind the Cuban Adriana Muñoz .

In 2012 she won the gold medal over 800 meters at the Ibero-American Championships in Barquisimeto and qualified again for the Olympic Games in London , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 2: 00.16 minutes .
