The 2017/18 Skeleton World Cup began on November 10, 2017 in Lake Placid and ended on January 19, 2018 in Königssee . The World Cup comprised eight stations, first three in North America and then five in Europe , and was held together with the Bobsleigh World Cup 2017/18 . The racing series was organized by the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF). The highlight of the season is the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . The European Championship also took place at the same time as the fourth World Cup in Winterberg .
The Intercontinental Cup , the European Cup and the North American Cup served as the foundation for the World Cup . The results of all racing series were included in the IBSF Skeleton Ranking 2017/18 .
The defending champions were the Latvian Martins Dukurs , who won the last eight overall rankings in the men's World Cup, and the German Jacqueline Lölling .
