Alexander Auer (born March 27, 1991 ) is an Austrian skeleton pilot.

Career

Before he got into skeleton , he also did rugby and short track . He completed his first skeleton competition in 2007. After his debut in the Skeleton World Cup , he took part in the World Cup finals of the 2014/15 season in the Sanki Sliding Center in Sochi on February 15, 2015 . In his first World Cup race, he finished 20th in the end and finished 41st in the overall World Cup.

On December 2, 2015, he started at the Intercontinental Cup in Whistler Sliding Center . Behind the German Martin Rosenberger and ahead of the German Alexander Gassner , he took second place. In the 2015/16 World Cup season , he was able to achieve a top 15 placement in this competition for the first time. On January 23, 2016, he finished 14th in the Whistler Sliding Center. In the overall ranking he finished 30th. Although he was not able to place in the top 20 in any World Cup races in the 2016/17 season , he achieved his best performance in this ranking with 29th place in the overall World Cup.

In the 2017/18 season he was able to achieve a top 20 result in the Skeleton World Cup for the first time in 2 years. On January 19, 2018, he finished 19th in the World Cup race on the Königssee artificial ice rink . In the overall World Cup standings, he finished 30th again at the end of the season.
