The municipality of Berane ( Montenegrin Општина Беране Opština Berane ) is a municipality in Montenegro . The administrative seat is the main town Berane .

The 2011 census showed a population of 33,970 for the municipality of Berane. Of these, 14,592 (42.96%) described themselves as Serbs , 8,838 (26.02%) as Montenegrins , 6,021 (17.72%) as Bosniaks , 1,957 (5.76%) as ethnic Muslims and 531 (1.56%) ) as Roma .
