The municipality of Cetinje ( Montenegrin Prijestonica Cetinje / Пријестоница Цетиње or Opština Cetinje / Општина Цетиње) is a municipality in Montenegro . Its administrative seat is the city of Cetinje .

Since Cetinje is the historic capital of Montenegro and is still the official seat of the president, the municipality bears the title Prijestonica (in German "official seat or capital"), unlike the other Montenegrin municipalities called Opština .

The 2011 census showed a population of 16,657 in the municipality of Cetinje. Of these, 15,082 (90.54%) described themselves as Montenegrins and 727 (4.36%) as Serbs . There are fewer members of other ethnic groups (e.g. Roma ) and identities (e.g. “Serb-Montenegrins”).

The largest religious community is the Orthodox Christians with 15,349 members (92.15%)  . 241 people (1.45%) declared themselves atheists .
