The British American Football League (BAFL) was the main league of American football in the United Kingdom from 1998 to 2010 . Until 2005 it was called the British Senior League (BSL). Only clubs from England, Wales and Scotland played. Teams from Northern Ireland played in the All-Ireland Irish American Football League .

It was divided into three leagues (divisions), the premier, the 1st and the 2nd, each of which had a play-off series and a championship game. The championship participants were promoted to the next higher league, the last two from the next lower league. The Premier Division championship game is called the BritBowl and won the Boston Trophy .

After tensions between the directors of the British American Football Association and those of the BAFL grew since 2009 and ended with the dissolution of the leagues on April 1, 2010, which was replaced in 2010 by the BAFA Community Leagues , renamed BAFA National Leagues in 2011 .
