Klevisch-Weselisch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Klevisch-Weselisch is a rough generic term for the dialects spoken in the Lower Rhine region, whose centers are in the districts of Kleve and Wesel .

It belongs to the Kleverland and is therefore a variety of the Lower Franconian . Klevisch-Weselisch is now threatened with extinction and is mainly spoken only by the older generation in rural areas.

In order to preserve the regional dialects, various dialect circles exist and local radio broadcasts broadcast smaller reports in these dialects.
