Air conditioning compressor
An air conditioning compressor or refrigerant compressor (also called a compressor ) is a refrigeration machine and ensures the compression of the gaseous refrigerant in the circuit of an air conditioning system . This is driven either by the vehicle engine or by electric motors.
Use in vehicles
In vehicles with a combustion engine , the air conditioning compressor is usually driven by a belt pulley and V- belt. It can be switched on or off via a magnetic coupling . There are different designs:
- Swash plate compressor
- Reciprocating compressor
- Vane compressors
- Scroll compressors / spiral compressors (mostly only installed in electric or hybrid vehicles)
- to to the Wankel engine reminiscent rotary piston compressor (eng. Rotary Compressor )
These compressors are usually bought in from the manufacturers as a classic supplier part. Well-known manufacturers are ACC , Bock , Danfoss , Emerson , Mitsubishi electric and Denso .
