history

The Klingele company was founded in 1920 in Wiesloch, Baden, by the paper wholesaler Alfred Klingele and his brother-in-law Emil Holfelder . In 1936 the plant in Remshalden-Grunbach was built. In 1952 Holfelder and Klingele separated and continued to operate as independent entrepreneurs. Under the leadership of widow Elisabeth Klingele and son Werner F. Klingele, the Swabian plant - initially under the company name "Wellpappe Grunbach" - became the new parent company of Klingele Paper Mills. In 1955 the name was changed to Klingele Papierwerke. In the same year the first branch plant was opened in Delmenhorst, followed by the corrugated cardboard plant in Hilpoltstein near Nuremberg in 1959. In 1961, the Klingele Group took over the paper mill in Weener / East Frisia.

Parallel to the establishment of the production and service network in Germany, Klingele was involved abroad as early as the early 1960s. In Spain, the company invested in various companies in the paper and packaging sector.

After Werner F. Klingele's death in 1992, his widow Brigitte Klingele and son Jan Klingele took over the management of the company. Since the turn of the millennium, the Klingele factories in Germany have pursued a continuous modernization strategy.

The RDF power plant in Weener (East Friesland) has been part of the Klingele Group since 2008. The power plant is operated on the basis of substitute fuels (RDF). Weener Energie supplies the Klingele Group's paper mill with heat and, in some cases, with electricity.

Locations

The entire product range of corrugated cardboard packaging is produced at the production facilities in Remshalden , Delmenhorst , Hilpoltstein and Werne . This includes corrugated boxes, die-cut packaging, folding bottom packaging and special packaging.

Klingele has two corrugated cardboard factories each in Spain. Corrugated cardboard packaging solutions are produced there, especially for the local market.

With its subsidiaries Norpack in Wunsiedel (Bavaria), Klingele Golfkarton in Nijmegen (Netherlands), the small series manufacturers V-Projekt and Blenk Verpackung + Logistik in Villmar, Klingele has also positioned itself in the niches of the packaging industry.

In Germany, the Klingele Group produces corrugated cardboard base paper in the Weener paper factory. Since mid-2008, the Weener power plant, a thermal power plant based on substitute fuels, has been supplying the Weener paper mill with heat and in some cases with electricity. The power plant replaces around 32 million m³ of natural gas and primary energy and saves 55,000 tons of fossil CO 2 emissions per year. At the beginning of 2014, a second Blue Paper SAS paper mill went into operation in Strasbourg . In a joint venture with the VPK Packaging Group, this was converted into a paper mill for light packaging papers.

With the founding of the European alliance Blue Box Partners in 2006, a Europe-wide supply of customers from a single source was secured.
