Sounding waterfall

The Klingende Wasserfall is a small waterfall north of Haimendorf , a district of Röthenbach ad Pegnitz in the central Franconian district of Nürnberger Land .

description

The natural monument is located in the Hüttenbach Gorge near Haimendorf. The waterfall has a height of about 5 meters. The Hüttenbach , a tributary of the Pegnitz , rippling over sandstone steps , forms an icicle curtain here in winter, behind which the gurgling water of the creek and the wind create a variety of tone sequences . The Ringing Waterfall got its name from these noises.

The waterfall is designated as Geotope 574R011 by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment . See also the list of geotopes in the district of Nürnberger Land .

geology

Over the millennia, the Hüttenbach has dug its way into the transitional layers of the Rhät - Lias sandstone. The hard sandstones form a layer here with the waterfall on the edge.

tourism

The small waterfall is particularly popular in winter. If it freezes long and deep enough, the waterfall solidifies into a work of art of nature. It can be reached either from Haimendorf or from Schönberg via a hiking trail marked with a green ring (see OpenStreetMap for the route under Schönberger Jakobsweg) . Another natural phenomenon is nearby, the Sprosselbrunnen spring near Schönberg .
